Price wins silver medal at World Cup in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Scotland, Dec. 7, 2013 – Elizabeth Price of Coopersburg, Pa./Parkettes, won the silver medal at the World Cup in Glasgow, Scotland. 2012 Olympian John Orozco of the Bronx, N.Y./Team Hilton HHonors (U.S. Olympic Training Center), finished fourth in the men's all-around. The 2014 AT&T American Cup in Greensboro, N.C., on March 1 is the next stop on the International Gymnastics Federation's all-around World Cup Series.

Price and Romania's Larisa Iordache traded final places from last weekend's World Cup in Stuttgart, Germany, which Price won. In Glasgow, Price earned a four-event total of 57.365 to finish behind Iordache, who posted 57.932 points. Italy's Vanessa Ferrari was third at 56.633. Price had the competition's highest uneven bars score at 14.833. Her other event scores were: vault, 14.233; balance beam, 13.833; and floor exercise, 14.466.

Orozco earned a total of 87.031, just missing the medals podium by finishing fourth. Ukraine's Oleg Verniaev, who tallied 89.798 points, followed up his victory in Stuttgart by clinching the title in Glasgow. Great Britain's Daniel Purvis was second at 89.131, and Belarus' Andrey Likhovitskiy rounded out the top three with his 88.597. Orozco's individual event scores were: floor exercise, 14.433; pommel horse, 13.566; still rings, 14.900; vault, 14.833; parallel bars, 15.433, the event's second highest score; and horizontal bar, 13.866 .
