USA after first day at 2013 Pat Wade Classic

INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 23, 2013 – After the first of two days of competition, the USA's Bryan Allen of San Jose, Calif., and Brennan Atsatt of Santa Cruz, Calif., both of Aerial Tumbling and Acro Gymnastics, earned the top balance and dynamic scores in the junior men's pairs competition at the inaugural Pat Wade Classic in Stoke-on-Trent, Great Britain. Ryan Ward and Kiley Boynton, both of Riverside, Calif./Realis Gymnastics Academy, are currently ranked third in their division. Competition wraps up tomorrow with the combined routine.

In the men's pairs for ages 13-19, Allen and Atsatt earned a 27.340 for the balance routine and a 27.380 for their dynamic routine. Their two-routine total of 54.720 was the highest for their division for the first day.

In the senior mixed pairs, Kiley and Boynton earned a 30.620 for their balanced routine, the division's highest, and a 28.615 for the dynamic routine. The duo is in third at 59.235 after today's competition.

Scores from Saturday do not carry forward.

In addition, the age-group field has eight groups from the United States (six women's groups and two mixed pairs). The event's field includes more than 260 gymnasts from Australia, Belgium, France, Russia and the United States and includes competition for the both senior and 13-19 year-old age group levels. Sunday's competition is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. local time, which is five hours ahead of New York City.

The Pat Wade Classic is named in honor of the late Professor Patricia Wade, MBE, who was one of the founding members of acrobatic gymnastics and chaired the International Gymnastics Federation's Acrobatic Gymnastics Technical Committee from 2000-08.
