Final 2013 women's national team camp begins Wednesday

HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Nov. 19, 2013 – The last women's national team camp for 2013 begins Wednesday in Huntsville, Texas, at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training Site. The camp runs through Sunday, Nov. 24.

The camp serves as the final verification for upcoming competitions. The following athletes were assigned a competition and will have to show competitive readiness.

Elizabeth Price of Coopersburg, Pa./Parkettes, was selected for the World Cup events in Stuttgart, Germany, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, and Glasgow, Great Britain, Dec. 7. Seniors Peyton Ernst of Coppell, Texas/Texas Dreams, and Maggie Nichols of Little Canada, Minn./Twin City Twisters, along with juniors Lauren Hernandez of Old Bridge, N.J./MG Elite, Veronica Hults of Coppell, Texas/Texas Dreams, Bailey Key of Montgomery, Texas/Texas Dreams, were selected for the Mexico Open in Acapulco, Mexico, Nov. 26-30.

The remainder of the national team will be working on new skill acquisition, technical corrections on existing skills, artistry improvements and routine construction for the 2014 season.

Most of the 2013 World Championships team will return to camp, as the women's national team looks forward to the 2014 competitive season.
