2004 Olympic all-around champion Carly Patterson threw out the first pitch at the New Britain Rock Cats game with the Portland Sea Dogs as part of her efforts to promote the 2013 P&G Gymnastics Championships, which will be held at the XL Center Aug. 15-18. She also visited with young gymnasts at the Connecticut Gymnastics Academy and Glastonbury Gymnastics.

The 2013 P&G Gymnastics Championships, USA Gymnastics’ premier annual event, will showcase the country’s top male and female gymnasts vying for the coveted title of U.S. champion. Performances determine the make-up of the U.S. National Team and may be a factor in selecting the U.S. Team for international events, including the World Championships.
