Sereda, Kerber compete at 2013 Corbeil World Cup

CORBEIL, France, May 15, 2013 – Reigning U.S. rhythmic all-around champion Rebecca Sereda of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora and 2012 Rhythmic Challenge champion Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center finished sixth in the team competition at the 2013 Corbeil World Cup, held May 10-12 in Corbeil, France.  Sereda also competed in the ribbon final and finished 13th in the all-around, while Kerber finished 18th in the all-around.

Sereda and Kerber combined for a 129.397 total score in the team competition.  Russia claimed the top spot, followed by Belarus and Ukraine.

Sereda posted an all-around total of 65.285 with scores of 16.716, hoop; 16.633, ball; 15.083, clubs; and 16.833, ribbon. On the way to her all-around score of 64.132, Kerber posted: 16.533, hoop; 16.600, ball; 14.483, clubs; and 16.516, ribbon. The top three spots, respectively, went to: Ukraine's Ganna Rizatdinova, 71.582; Belarus' Melitina Staniouta, 71.182; and Russia's Margarita Mamun, 71.016.

Sereda also advanced to the ribbon final, where she finished seventh with a score of 16.633. Kerber was 12th in the qualification round, marking the first time two U.S. rhythmic gymnasts have placed in the top 12 for an event. In the finals, Mamun( 18.450), Rizatdinova (18.016), and Russia's Alexandra Merkulova (18.000) claimed the gold, silver and bronze medals.
