Oregon Claims 12 Titles in NCATA Event Finals

The first day of the 2013 NCATA Championships saw Oregon win 12 event titles on Thursday, April 25 at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn. Quinnipiac claimed two individual titles, Baylor also claimed two individual titles, while Fairmont State and Azusa Pacific each had one.

For the first time in NCATA history, three teams finished tied for an event. In the twisting pyramid, Quinnipiac, Oregon and Azusa Pacific each posted a score of 9.85 and shared the title of the second heat. The Bobcats made it two straight, when the squad scored a 9.90 in the release pyramid and shared the title with Oregon who posted the same score.

The team portion of the competition begins on Friday, April 26. The two-time defending champion Oregon Ducks will face the winner of the tournament's first meet which pits No. 4 Baylor and No. 5 Fairmont State. That BU-FSU opening round match-up is slated for 12 pm (ET) on Friday. Click here for live video.

The No. 2 seed is host team Quinnipiac which went 4-2 in the regular season. The Bobcats will take on No. 3 seed Azusa Pacific in the first semifinal scheduled for 5 p.m. (ET) on Friday.

The title will be determined on Saturday when the semifinal winners pair up at 12 p.m. (ET).
