Florida wins two event titles at Women's NCAA Championships

LOS ANGELES, April 21, 2013 – After winning the team title, the University of Florida won two of the four individual event gold medals on the final day of the 2013 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships at the University of California – Los Angeles' Pauley Pavilion. Florida's Alaina Johnson took top honors on the uneven bars, and the recently crowned NCAA all-around champion Bridget Sloan won balance beam title. The University of Alabama's Diandra Milliner and Louisiana State University's Rheagan Courville tied for the vault title. The floor exercise title went to the University of Michigan's Joanna Sampson.

On vault, Milliner and Courville tied for the vault title with a score of 9.9250. Milliner vaulted a Yurchenko one-and-a-half twist, and Courville performed a Yurchenko full. UCLA's Olivia Courtney was close behind in third with a 9.9167 for her Yurchenko full vault.

On bars, Johnson grabbed the title with a 9.9125, complete with a stuck dismount. Johnson just edged out teammate Sloan and the University of Utah's Georgia Dabritz, who tied for second at 9.900.

On beam, Sloan was steady in her routine, including a flip flop layout step out, to score a 9.900 and her third title, adding to her all-around and team golds. The University of Michigan's Katie Zurales and the University of Minnesota's Hanna Nordquist tied for second with a score of 9.8875.

Sampson won the floor title, scoring a 9.9375. Milliner was second with 9.9250. The University of Nebraska's Emily Wong landed in third place with her 9.9125.
