Centenary College hosts 2013 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, April 10, 2013 – Centenary College of Louisiana hosts the 2013 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships in Shreveport, La., as the University of Bridgeport looks to earn its fifth-straight team title this week, April 12-14.

The three-day meet will feature eight varsity teams. Competition begins Friday at 2 p.m. CT with two sessions of team semifinals and the all-around finals, which will be located at Centenary College's Gold Dome. Team finals will start at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, and Sunday will be the individual event finals, scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.

The schools competing in the team competition are: Air Force, Texas Woman's University, Brown, Cornell, Seattle Pacific, University of Pennsylvania, Bridgeport and host Centenary.

Schools with athletes competing for an event or all-around title only are: Lindenwood, Southern Connecticut, Temple, West Chester and Yale.

Bridgeport has won the team title the last three years, and tied with Cornell in 2009.

Defending all-around champion, Bridgeport's Monica Mesalles of Barcelona, Spain, returns to the 2013 championships. Mesalles is also the defending vault, beam and floor champion. TWU's Courtney Cochefski of Chicago, the reigning uneven bars champion, also returns in defense of her title.

The USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships is for Division I, II and III schools with less than seven-and-a-half full scholarships.
