Ernst leads the 2013 Tokyo World Cup

TOKYO, April 6, 2013 – After the first day of all-around competition at the 2013 Tokyo World Cup, Peyton Ernst of Coppell, Texas/Texas Dreams Gymnastics, sits atop the leader board with a combined score of 29.300 after two events at the Metropolitan Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground in Tokyo. 2012 Olympic all-around bronze-medalist Danell Leyva of Miami/Universal Gymnastics, withdrew from the event with a shoulder injury.

The Tokyo World Cup is an International Gymnastics Federation all-around World Cup competition and is the final event in the 2012-13 series.

Ernst earned a 15.125 on vault and a 14.175 on the uneven bars. She leads Japan's Asuka Teramoto (28.775) and Canada's Elsabeth Black (28.125), who are second and third, respectively.

The all-around competition is split over two days and concludes tomorrow with men's vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar and women's balance beam and floor exercise.
