2012 Future Stars Camp Wrap Up
posted on 08/04/2012

The 2012 Future Star Camp took place in Lake Placid, New York at the US Olympic Training Center. Thirty-three gymnasts were invited to this year's camp that was held July 30th-August 3rd.

The camp this year was lead by Brooke Bushnell Toohey, Future Star Coordinator. Iliana Ivanova, Mila Harty & our newest addition Tamara Manukovskaya (ballet coach from Maryland) was our experienced & passionate staff! We kept our focus on basic technique of the body and the equipment. By doing this we are continuing to see great quality of our athletes at the elite level! The gymnasts also enjoyed learning a fun and energetic jazz routine choreographed by Brooke Toohey. The gymnasts always start out a little shy but in no time they were performing the jazz routine with great confidence and energy! The gymnasts trained six hours a day divided into two practices. At night we did arts and craft activities that included painting American Flag pictures in honor of the 2012 London Olympic Games, sand art bottles and signs for their dorm rooms! The activities at night always give the gymnasts time to get to know each other better and relax a little after a long day of training.

The Future Star camp continues to be a fun-filled learning experience for gymnasts and their coaches! The coaches and athletes worked well together with the staff to create a productive and positive atmosphere. There is great pride in the work that was done and the staff was thrilled to see everyone leave the camp happy and motivated to go home and work on all they learned. I want to personally thank my staff for their knowledge and energy brought to the camp! Without them it would not have been the success it was! I wish everyone a great success in the 2013 season and look forward to seeing you all at next year's Future Star Test!
