Athlete of the Week
Kam Kitchens - Baylor
Kam Kitchens, a sophomore top and tumbler from Kennesaw, Ga., competed in 11 heats and team event for the Bears last week. In her 11 heats, she helped Baylor record eight scores of 9.50 or higher, including a perfect 10.0 in the compulsory toss. She also helped Baylor to a 9.95 in open pyramid and recorded a score of 9.75 in the open tumbling pass. She was also vital to Baylor’s team event that scored a 93.65.

Specialist of the Week
Emily Tobin - Baylor
Emily Tobin, a sophomore from Templeton, Calif., was a standout in the acro event for Baylor last week as a top in two of the three heats during the event. Both of Tobin’s heats scored a perfect 10.0 as she performs release skills and hand balance skills during the five- and seven-element acro heats.

Freshman of the Week
Riley Chimwala - Baylor
Riley Chimwala, a base from Plano, Texas, repeats as NCATA Freshman of the Week this week after competed in 10 heats and team event for the Bears. Her performance was highlighted by a trio of perfect scores during the win over East Texas Baptist as the Bears recorded a perfect 10.0 in compulsory toss, five-element acro and seven-element acro. She also helped the Bears record a 9.95 in inversion pyramid and a 9.65 in the 450 salto toss. In all, she helped Baylor to nine scores of 9.50 or higher.

Athlete of the Week
Alexis Smith - Fairmont State
Smith, a senior top, base and tumbler from Parkersburg, W.Va., competed in 10 heats and team event as the Falcons wrapped up a 5-0 regular season with a tri-meet win over Davis & Elkins and Frostburg State on Saturday evening. Smith’s performance was highlighted by a 9.825 in her open tumbling pass, a meet-high score for the Falcons in the event. She also helped the Falcons to a pair of 9.80 scores in the compulsory toss and open pyramid heats. She was also a major contributor as Fairmont State scored a 9.65 in the compulsory pyramid and a 9.60 in the acro six-element.

Athlete of the Week
Deslslava Yordanova - Belmont Abbey
A sophomore from Williamsburg, Virginia, Yordanova competed in 10 heats and the team event as a top, mid-layer and tumbler in last Tuesday's win over Lander. She scored an 8.75 in Compulsory Tumbling, which helped the Crusaders to a program high. Yordanova also scored a 9.45 in Pyramid Heat 2 and a near-perfect 9.95 in Pyramid Heat 3, matching the program high for heat 3. She registered an 8.7 out of 9.25 in Toss Heat 3. In the aerial tumbling pass, she scored a 9.6 out of 9.9, also matching a program high. In addition, she helped the team to an 86.87 in the team event.
