Gymnasts of the Week – Jan. 15-17, 2021


Gymnast of the Week awards are given by conference offices. More will be added throughout the week as they become available.

National

NCAA Gymnast of the Week
Paul Juda - Michigan
Paul Juda won five individual titles against Illinois-Chicago: floor exercise, vault, parallel bars, high bar and the all-around competition. He owns the top all-around score in the nation (86.550), and ranks No. 1 in the country on vault (14.650), parallel bars (14.700), and high bar (14.450). He is also No. 3 on floor exercise (14.300) and second on pommel horse (14.350).

Logan Myers - Illinois

NCAA Specialist of the Week
Gage Dyer - Oklahoma
Dyer picked up CGA Event Specialist of the Week honors for his floor performance over the weekend. He showed his All-America status on floor exercise in the Sooners season-opening win over Air Force and Arizona State. The senior captain won the event title with a 14.850 routine that ranks first in the country by four-tenths. Additionally, Dyer took home top-five finishes on vault (14.250) and high bar (13.300), taking third and fifth, respectively.

Gymnast of the Week
Jacob Nauman – Army
Nauman picked up from where he left off last season, scoring a 14.0 on vault and capturing the event title with teammate Connor Cavanagh. Jacob competed on five events as he looks to be a main contributor for the Black Knights this season.

Specialist of the Week
Connor Cavanagh – Army
Cavanagh led the way on vault with Nauman, posting a 14.0 in outpointing Penn State's Robbie Shamp (13.9) for top honors as Army denied the Nittany Lions from capturing the event.

Rookie of the Week
Connor Cavanagh – Army
Cavanagh had a strong start to his freshman and college career, scoring a 14.0 on vault and sharing the event title with teammate Jacob Nauman. Connor also competed on rings for the Black Knights.

Gymnast of the Week
Spencer Goodell - Oklahoma
Oklahoma junior Spencer Goodell (Tigard, OR) excelled in the No. 2 Sooners’ victory over No. 13 Air Force and Arizona State at the Rocky Mountain Open (Jan. 16), winning the all-around title with a career-best 81.250, which ranks third nationally. Goodell tied or bested his career-highs on five of six events and finished in the top five on four events, including runner-up routines on parallel bars (13.800) and still rings (13.750). His top event scores were on vault (14.200, T-4th) and floor (14.000, 5th). This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Goodell.
