Gymnasts of the Week – Feb. 15-16, 2020

Gymnast of the Week awards are given by conference offices. More will be added throughout the week as they become available.

NCAA Specialist of the Week
Jake Bonnay - Nebraska
The Burlington, Ontario native was rewarded for his stellar performance against Minnesota and Army West Point this past weekend. Bonnay claimed the floor and parallel bars titles while also placing fourth on high bar. Bonnay notched a 14.55 on floor to claim the title and earned his second-highest score of the season. Bonnay also saw a career-high performance on parallel bars finishing with a score of 14.25.

Gymnast and Freshman of the Week
Paul Juda - Michigan
  • Won two events and the all-around to help No. 3 Michigan knock off No. 2 Oklahoma last weekend with the third-highest score in the nation this season (416.500)
  • Won the all-around with an 84.050 total, which ranks No. 3 nationally
  • Claimed the title on the floor with a 14.550 score and on the high bar with a 14.400
  • Also placed second on the parallel bars (14.200) and third on the still rings (14.000) and vault (14.600)
  • Earns his second consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week award
  • Earns his first Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award

Eastern College Athletic Conference

Gymnast of the Week
Stephen Lewis – Springfield
Scored a season-best 79.250 in the all-around competition to help Springfield defeat Washington and Temple on Sunday. Had the top score in the floor exercise, finished second on the pommel horse and rings, and took third on the vault.

Specialist of the Week
Jacob Nauman – Army
Nauman continued his strong start to his career on vault, posting his fourth 14+ score this season on the apparatus with a 14.350. The score was the fourth highest overall of the day and the best of his career so far. He also had a career high on floor exercise, scoring a 13.85 and placing fifth on the event.

Rookie of the Week
Dominic Ramalho – Springfield
Ramalho delivered a career-best performance in the all-around in helping Springfield defeat University of Washington and Temple on Sunday as the Pride scored a season-best mark of 386.500.

Gymnast of the Week
Matt Wenske - Oklahoma
Oklahoma redshirt junior Matt Wenske (Houston, TX) competed in the all-around for the second time on the season at No. 3 Michigan (Feb. 15), accumulating 80.500. Wenske led the Sooners on still rings and took second-place with a career-best 14.200. He added season-highs on vault with a third-place-tying 14.600 and on floor with a 13.950, while his parallel bars effort (13.250) assisted in a team season-high in the event. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Wenske.
