Waller won a USA Gymnastics or NCAA national title every year from 1989-1993; however, he was unable to compete at the 1994 Coca-Cola National Championships and did not complete the competition in 1995. He was an all-around finalist at the 1992 Olympic Games and took fifth on pommel horse, only one tenth of a point away from the gold medal. The 1991 U.S. National Champion, Waller was selected the 1991 Athlete of the Year by his national teammates.
