Fontaine plans to attend Stanford University in the fall of '96. She was a straight-A student at Stevenson High School. She underwent elbow surgery in July 1994, and although she did not complete the 1994 Coca-Cola National Championships, recovered in time to qualify for the 1994 Team World Championships in Nov. Fontaine finished 17th all-around at her first appearance at a World Championships in Australia in 1994. She has one sister and one brother.
