Acro Development Program Overview

This program is the result of actions taken by the USA Gymnastics - Acrobatic Gymnastics National Development Committee and Program Committee to construct a coordinated program which will prepare athletes for the highest levels of competition.

Level 1 (Acro Pre-team program) provides training in beginning skills for recreational activity and in preparation for competition at higher levels (coming soon)

Levels 2-5 perform one combined compulsory exercise. Level 2-4 (coming soon) commences the competitive program for athletes with no previous exposure to competitive acrobatics. Exercises are fully choreographed, and artistic impression and some additional choreography are allowed.

Levels 6-7 athletes choose different elements from balance, dynamic, and individual categories. These elements are choreographed into an exercise of the athletes' and coaches' choosing.

Levels 8-10 perform two exercises, balance and dynamic. At Level 8 combines the choice of elements from compulsory skills provided in Specifications, and optional elements. Elements for Levels 9 and 10 are selected from the optional elements contained in the FIG Tables of Difficulty. For each of these levels, special requirements and restrictions are specified for each exercise as well as minimum and maximum difficulty ranges.
