HUNTSVILLE, Texas, July 5, 2013 – Athletes looking to qualify for a spot at the American Classic and Secret U.S. Classic, which will be held July 27 in Hoffman Estates, Ill., competed this weekend at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training Site.

In the senior division, Wynter Childers of Carters posted the top score with a 51.100, followed by Texas Dreams’ Macy Toronjo, 51.000, and Cypress’ Taylor Krippner, 49.300.

Lauren Navarro of Charter Oak Gliders won the junior division with a 53.400. Asia Dewalt of WOGA, 52.550, finished second while Melissa Reinstadtler of Rebound rounded out the top three with a 52.000. All three qualified to the Classic meets. Joining the top three in achieving the qualifying score were Simone Banen of North Stars and Emily Muhlenhaupt of Colorado Aerials, Gabrielle Perea of Legacy, Maile O’Keefe of Academy of Gym-Salcianu, and Lexy Ramler of Kidsport.

In the Hopes division, athletes were vying for a place in the U.S. Challenge, held in conjunction with the Secret U.S. Classic. In the 12-13 year old division, Aloyna Shchennikova of TIGAR won the all-around competition, scoring 53.800. Samantha Davis of North Stars was second with a 52.100. Third place went to Olivia Trautman of Twin City Twisters, 51.750. Also qualified to the Challenge include Adeline Sabados of Colorado Aerials, Jaala Downes of Champion Gymnastics, Mackenzie Barile of Desert Lights, Abigail Johnston of Twisters, and Abigail Walker of Northwind,

In the 10-11 age group, Shilese Jones of Auburn Gymnastics Center won the competition with a score of 51.000. Mikayla Hotaling of Twisters Gymnastics finished second, 49.100. Baleigh Garcia of Twisters Gymnastics was third with 48.400. Autumn Lull of Xtreme Altitude also qualified to the U.S. Challenge.
