CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – The Talent Opportunity Program (TOPs) training camps for the TOPs A National Team and the TOPs B squad were held last week at Flip Fest Gymnastics Camp in Crossville, Tennessee. TOPs is a talent opportunity program for 7-10-year-old gymnasts within the women’s program in USA Gymnastics.

Forty-five gymnasts participated in the TOPs A National Team camp, with 60 attending the TOPs B camp. The athletes were named to the national team based on performances at this year’s TOPs National Testing in October. The camps featured two-a-day training sessions under the direction of Dan Baker and the national coaching staff. TOPs A National Team members were tested with the same physical abilities used by the U.S. National Team.

Physical abilities testing awards went Carly Weinberg of Buckeye Gymnastics, who finished in first place, followed by Camie Westerman of Hill’s Gymnastics and Delilah Zepdeda-Orth of 5280 Gymnastics in second and third, respectively.

GK Elite is the official sponsor of the TOPs program and provides the athletes with the TOPs apparel, TOPs A National Team members received a warm-up, and all TOPs athletes, including the Diamond Team, receive a custom-designed TOPs leotard.

The athletes and coaches at both camps participated in a session on mental focus and building confidence while training and competing.

At the conclusion of each camp, the athletes presented skits and T-shirts created for their group. Prizes were given out for best skit, t-shirts and cleanest rooms during camps. Several athletes from the camps may receive invitations to the January invitational camp. All athletes will compete in the Junior Olympic program within their respective states in 2019.
