MARBELLA, Spain, March 26, 2022 – Lili Mizuno (Northbrook, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center) claimed sixth in the all-around competition Saturday at the 2022 Grand Prix Marbella in Spain. The 2020 Olympian also advanced to all four apparatus finals set to begin Sunday at 11 a.m. ET at the Palacio de los Deportes Elena Benitez.

Competing in her first international event of the 2022 season, Mizuno posted a cumulative 110.050 to secure a top-ten finish. Bulgaria’s Eva Brezalieva (124.050), Boryana Kaleyn (119.800) and Stiliana Nikolova (118.350) swept the podium. Spain’s Teresa Gorospe was fourth with a 111.650, while Canada’s Tatiana Cocsanova rounded out the top five with a 110.850.

Mizuno’s highest individual event placement of the day came on hoop. Her 29.300 qualified her to Sunday’s final in the third position behind Brezalieva (32.300) and Nikolova (31.350). Brezalieva also earned the top score on ball with a 30.850. Mizuno advanced to the ball final in sixth with a 27.550. On clubs, Mizuno qualified in the fourth position with a 27.600. Nikolova led the way with a 31.600. Kaleyn topped the scoresheet on ribbon with a 31.500, while Mizuno (25.600) just edged Australia’s Lidiia Iakovleva (25.350) to claim the eighth and final spot in Sunday’s ribbon field.
