FT. MYERS, Fla. – Olympic gold-medalist Shannon Miller, the USA’s most decorated gymnast, will attend the opening reception for the Art of the Olympian’s newest exhibit, "A Taste of Gymnastics." The reception is scheduled for Sept. 17 from 5-8 p.m. in the Olympic Sports Experience Gallery at the Art of the Olympians’ Al Oerter Center for Excellence at 1300 Hendry St., Ft. Myers, Fla. Admission to the reception is free of charge. The exhibit will be on display at the Al Oerter Center of Excellence until Oct. 16, 2010.

The exhibit features an historic, modern and cultural look at the sport of gymnastics through a unique showcase of uniforms, equipment and Olympic memorabilia.

Through the collaborative effort of AOTO, Tropical Twisters Gymnastics, USA Gymnastics and Shannon Miller Lifestyle, " A Taste of Gymnastics" will provide guests with an opportunity to experience the athletic and artistic elements of gymnastics. Miller, a seven-time Olympic and nine-time World medalist, will give a special presentation at the reception.

Miller has been inducted into seven Halls of Fame, including the USA Gymnastics and International Women’s Sports Halls of Fame. She is the only woman, in any sport, to be inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame twice, as an individual and with her team. Miller shares her Olympic and gymnastics passion in her role as a motivational speaker and health and wellness advocate.

Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gallery is closed to on Sundays, Mondays and holidays.
