INDIANAPOLIS, Aug.14, 2015 – Two-time defending U.S. all-around champion Sam Mikulak of Newport Coast, Calif./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center) posted a 92.000 total for the highest all-around score for the first night of men’s gymnastics at the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Competition continues tomorrow with the final day of women’s gymnastics. Junior women start the day at 1 p.m. ET, with the senior women at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Team Hilton’s Donnell Whittenburg of Baltimore, Md./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), and Paul Ruggeri III of Manlius, N.Y./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), were second and third, 89.650 and 88.350, respectively. Jonathan Horton of Houston/Team Hilton (Cypress Gymnastics), finished fourth (88.300), followed by Danell Leyva of Miami/Team Hilton (Universal Gymnastics), in fifth (88.050).

  • Junior men’s session. Cameron Bock of Tustin, Calif./SCATS and Yul Moldauer of Arvada, Colo./University of Oklahoma lead the junior men’s 15-16 and 17-18 all-around rankings, respectively, after the first of two days. Bock posted an 84.950 for the top spot, followed by Davis Grooms of Katy, Texas/Champion Gymnastics (81.350) and Bennet Huang of Palo Alto, Calif./WCOGA (80.400). Moldauer’s 86.100 gives him a nice cushion heading into the final day. Peter Daggett of E. Longmeadow, Mass./University of Oklahoma was second at 84.050, with Kiwan Watts of N. Chesterfield, Va./Above the Bar in third at 83.800.

P&G Championships general information

  • Fan activities. Lots of fun fan activities are planned for Georgia Street and the Bankers Life Fieldhouse concourse. For the Countdown to Rio beach party, the east block of Georgia Street will become home to a 1,600-square-foot beach, where a sand sculptor from the Indiana Ice Studio will transform five tons of sand into gymnastics-themed sand art, beginning Thursday, Aug. 13. Well-known gymnastics celebrities, including 1996 Olympic gold medalist Shannon Miller, 2004 Olympic all-around champion Carly Patterson, Peszek and Sloan, will be on hand to sign autographs on Georgia Street and at Bankers Life Fieldhouse throughout the four days of competition. Organizers estimate that approximately 300 individuals will have the opportunity for an autograph during the allotted time. Also, the Rio 3-D sculpture will make fun photo memories. f there is inclement weather, the Georgia Street activities will be cancelled. P&G Championships information
Scheduled for Aug. 13-16, the four-day P&G Gymnastics Championships serves as USA Gymnastics’ national championships and will determine members of the men’s and women’s national team and part of the World Team selection.

Single-session tickets are still available and range from $10-$105, with prices varying depending on session and seating area, along with several other ticket packages: women’s gymnastics day 1 includes both the junior and senior sessions on Aug. 13, $75-$125 per seat; men’s gymnastics package that includes every men’s junior and senior session, Aug. 14 and 16, $75-$125; women’s gymnastics final day includes both the junior and senior sessions on Aug. 15, $90-$140; senior men’s and women’s gymnastics final day sessions, Aug. 15-16, $85-$135; and all-session ticket package includes every competitive session, with prices running from $150-$495, and a limited number of Platinum VIP all-session tickets, located in the first five rows, are still available and include an autographed poster and a meet-and-greet with an Olympian.
