PHILADELPHIA, Pa., April 11, 2015 – Lindenwood University won its first national team title at the 2015 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships, held at the University of Pennsylvania’s Palestra in Philadelphia, Pa. Lindenwood’s victory ended the University of Bridgeport’s streak of six consecutive team crowns. Competition wraps up on Sunday with the individual event finals at 1 p.m. ET.

Lindenwood earned a 195.550 team total, beating the defending champion Bridgeport (194.675) by nearly a point. Seattle Pacific University was third at 194.225, followed by Texas Woman’s University with 193.775.

Lindenwood had the highest balance beam score at 49.075 and tied with Bridgeport for the top team vault score at 48.700. TWU had the best team uneven bars mark at 48.925. Bridgeport also earned top honors for the team floor exercise at 49.025.

Lindenwood’s event scores were: 48.700, vault; 48.900, uneven bars; 49.075, balance beam; and 48.875, floor exercise.

For Bridgeport, the event scores were: 48.700, vault; 48.275, uneven bars; 48.675, balance beam; and 49.025, floor exercise.

The event scores for Seattle Pacific are: vault, 48.375; uneven bars, 48.650; balance beam, 48.375; and floor exercise, 48.825.

TWU’s event scores were: 48.600, vault; 48.925, uneven bars; 47.725, balance beam; and 48.525, floor exercise.

The schools that competed in the team competition are: Brown University, Lindenwood University, Seattle Pacific University, Texas Woman’s University, U.S. Air Force Academy, University of Bridgeport, University of Pennsylvania and Yale University. Schools with athletes competing for an event or all-around title only are: Centenary College, Cornell University, Southern Connecticut State University and West Chester University.
