BERCY, France, March 18, 2011 — 2010 World horizontal bar finalist Danell Leyva of Miami will compete in the horizontal bar competition at the International Gymnastics Federation World Cup in Bercy, France, located near Paris, on March 19-20. More than 90 athletes from 36 countries are expected to compete in the two-day event.
Preliminaries are scheduled for Saturday, March 19, beginning at 2 p.m., and the final rounds are on Sunday, featuring four finalists per event, beginning at 2:30 p.m. All times are local. Invitations to the World Cup were based on performances at the 2010 World Championships, and 12 athletes compete on each apparatus in the preliminary round.
Leyva, a member of Team Hilton HHonors who trains at Universal Gymnastics, is accompanied by his coach, Yin Alvarez.
