INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., May 3, 2010 – Thirty-two individual all-around and team champions were named at the 2010 Women’s Junior Olympic Level 9 Eastern and Western Championships, held April 30-May 2. The Level 9 Eastern Championships took place at the Charleston (W. Va.) Civic Center, and the Western Championships were held in Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. Region 5 claimed the most team and all-around titles at the Eastern Championships with 18 titles, while Region 1 earned the most at the Western Championships, winning 15 titles.

Level 9 Western Championships

On Friday, April 30, six team and all-around champions were crowned. The Junior Division 1 title was earned by Region 3 with a 149.900. Alyssa Baumann of WOGA won the all-around title, recording a 37.725. Region 3 took the Junior Division 2 team title with 149.275. WOGA’s Tess McCracken won the all-around with a 37.925.

Region 1 took the team title in Junior Division 3 at 148.775. Lacy Dagen of Pacific West won the all-around crown with 37.575. Elizabeth Yu of West Coast Elite took the all-around in Junior Division 4 with 37.750, and Region 1 earned the team title at 149.375.

The Junior Division 5 champions were team, Region 3 (150.025), and all-around, Natasha Trejo of Tumbleweeds (37.825). Region 3 won the Junior Division 6 title (148.075), and Jamy Garcia of West Valley took the all-around crown with 37.500.

On Saturday, May 1, six more champions were crowned. The Junior Division 7 team champion was Region 4 (148.150) and Hannah Tennyson of Tumbleweeds finished first in the all-around (37.775). Region 3 won the Junior Division 8 team title (148.025), and Emily Clearman of Achievers Gymnastics took the all-around title (37.250).

The Senior Division 1 champions were team, Region 1 at 149.500, and all-around, Selynna Felix-Terrazas of Tumbleweeds (37.350). In Senior Division 2, Region 1 earned the team title (147.650) and Nicole Wangler of Tags South-Minnesota, finished first in the all-around with 37.200.

The Senior Division 3 team title went to Region 3 (149.475) and Melissa Feuerborn of KGDC Twisters won the all-around (37.650). The Senior Division 4 champions were Region 2 (147.775) with the team title, and Danielle Landry of Auburn GC (37.275) in the all-around.

On Sunday, May 2, Senior Division 5 crowned champions Cheyenne Gavino of Metropolitan in the all-around (37.500) and Region 1 with the team title (147.625). Region 1 earned the Senior Divisions 6 title (147.300) and Crystal Paz of Bay Aerials finished first in the all-around (37.050).

The Senior Division 7 champions crowned were Victoria Mar of Head Over Heels, winning the all-around (37.575), and Region 1, taking the team title (148.775). Region 1 earned the Senior Division 8 team title at 145.250, and Hailey Wells of Emerald City took the all-around title with 36.425.

Level 9 Eastern Championships

On Friday, April 30, six team and all-around champions were crowned. The Junior Division 1 title was earned by Region 8 with a 147.100. Lexi Graber of Southern Starz won the all-around title, recording a 36.975. Region 8 took the Junior Division 2 team title with 148.025. Southeastern’s Julianna Cannamela won the all-around with a 37.275.

Region 5 took the team title in Junior Division 3 at 149.450. Megan Hultgren of Gymnastics Academy of Rockford won the all-around crown with 37.575. Sabrina Garcia of Prestige took the all-around in Junior Division 4 with 37.450, and Region 7 earned the team title at 147.425.

The Junior Division 5 champions were team, Region 5 (147.100), and all-around, Macey Hilliker of Midland (37.150). Region 5 won the Junior Division 6 title (148.275), and Corinne Rechenmacher of Premier Gymnastics Academy took the all-around crown with 37.550.

On Saturday, May 1, six more champions were crowned. The Junior Division 7 team champions were Region 8 (148.250), and Sarah Faller of Sonshine Gymnastics finished first in the all-around (37.475). Region 5 won the Junior Division 8 team title (147.600), and Brianna Higgins of Geddert’s Twistars took the all-around title (37.100).

The Senior Division 1 champions were Region 5 with the team title at 147.725 and Rachel Haines of Geddert’s Twistars in the all-around (38.150). In Senior Division 2, Region 5 earned the team title (147.350), and Alexandra Chretien of Oakland Gymnastics finished first in the all-around with 37.150.

The Senior Division 3 team title went to Region 5 (149.200), and Arlyn Amor of Geddert’s Twistars won the all-around (37.725). The Senior Division 4 champions were Region 5 (147.025), team, and all-arounder Chloe Presley of Oakland Gymnastics (37.125).

On Sunday, May 2, Senior Division 5 crowned champions Meghan Brannon of La Fleur’s Gymnastics – Largo in the all-around (36.150) and Region 7 in the team competition (143.900). Region 8 earned the Senior Division 6 title (143.750) and Samantha Lutz of Elite Energy finished first in the all-around (36.675).

The Senior Division 7 champions are Maria Hayden of Gymini, winning the all-around (36.650), and Region 5, taking the team title (144.825). Regions 7 and 5 tied for the Senior Division 8 team title at 143.825, and Olivia Chiu of Grand Blanc Gymnastics took the all-around title with 36.550.

The Junior Olympic Eastern and Western Championships are two of USA Gymnastics’ championships. Many Junior Olympic champions have gone on to make the U.S. National Team and represent the United States in international competition and/or to compete in collegiate gymnastics.
