NEW YORK, NY (December 11, 2024) – USA Gymnastics President and CEO Li Li Leung is set to be honored by Women In Sports and Events (WISE) as one of four WISE Women of the Year honorees for 2025.
Leung is part of a WISE honoree list that includes Fanduel CEO Amy Howe, CBS Sports EVP of Operations and Engineering Patty Power, and Morgan Stanley Managing Director and Head of Global Sports & Entertainment Sandra Richards.
“Our board of directors is immensely proud of the transformational progress USA Gymnastics has made under Li Li’s strong and resilient leadership,” USAG Board Chair Kathryn Carson said. “We are confident that with her stewardship, USA Gymnastics will continue to strengthen the environment which enables our athletes to soar as we head towards the Olympic Games in LA28.”
Named a 2024 Sports Business Journal Game Changer earlier this year, Leung’s WISE honor recognizes her leadership of USA Gymnastics and the successful, ongoing cultural and business transformation of the organization. Among the achievements of USAG during Leung’s tenure are an expanded funding structure for National Team athletes that has brought greater equity across disciplines and genders; a groundbreaking program to help provide mental health visits to National Team athletes and their coaches; the expansion of athlete and Survivor representation on the USAG board and committees; and the return of a robust corporate partner roster, including a partnership with Nike that is the largest in organizational history. That success has been matched by record-breaking competitive performances across all disciplines, including a record seventh-consecutive team World Championship title for the women; the first men’s Olympic team medal since 2008; and the first parkour World Championships medals won by an American.
2024 also saw the successful execution of the first “Gymnastics City USA”, bringing together USAG’s marquee events to a single location. The 2024 USA Gymnastics Championships, National Congress and Tradeshow, Gymnastics for All National Championships and Gymfest, and 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials were staged for the first time in Minneapolis. The event brought together hundreds of thousands of visitors and members of the gymnastics community in a 10-day celebration of the sport.
Leung will be honored at the 29th WISE Women of the Year Awards Luncheon in New York City March 19, 2025. For complete bios of all 2025 WISE Women of Year, visit wiseworks.org.
