INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 6, 2021) – USA Gymnastics President and CEO Li Li Leung on Saturday was elected to the Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) at its 83rd Congress in Antalya, Turkey. American Butch Zunich also was elected to Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee.

The President and CEO of USA Gymnastics since March 2019, Leung was elected on the first round of balloting and received the most votes among the 15 candidates running for seven available seats.

A collegiate All-American gymnast while at the University of Illinois and a 2003 National Gymnastics Judges Association Hall of Fame inductee, Zunich has served as a judge at four Olympic Games and 14 World Championships.

“Being active within the FIG is a deliberate strategy to ensure that Americans have a seat at the table when the issues critical to the sport and our athletes are made,” said Leung, who also serves as vice chair of the National Governing Body (NGB) Council within the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Movement. “We look forward to working productively with our international colleagues to advance gymnastics globally as well as in the United States.”
