LONDON, Jan. 13, 2012 – Steven Legendre of Norman, Okla./Team Hilton HHonors (University of Oklahoma), won the silver medal on vault at the 2012 Visa International Gymnastics event held today in London’s North Greenwich Arena. The event, which serves as the Olympic test event, is part of the London Prepares series leading to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Team USA continues competition at the event on Monday, Jan. 16, with the first day of rhythmic gymnastics qualification. Julie Zeltin of Bethesda, Md./Capital Rhythmics, the 2010 U.S. all-around champion, will represent the United States.

Legendre executed a handspring double front with a small hop and earned a 15.800. His second vault, a nearly stuck Kasumatsu one-and-a-half, earned a 15.933, giving Legendre a 15.866 average. Last to compete, Ukraine’s Igor Radivilov slipped past Legendre to claim the gold, after executing a Dragulescu and piked double Tsukahara for a 16.249 average score. Great Britain’s Kristian Thomas rounded out the top three with a 15.849 two-vault average.
