LISBON, Portugal, April 4, 2014 – World all-around finalist Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, has advanced to the event final for hoop at the Lisbon (Portugal) World Cup, which is part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s World Cup series. The competition continues tomorrow with the qualification round of the last two events, clubs and ribbon, and the all-around finals. The World Cup wraps up on Sunday with the event finals.

Kerber, who posted a personal best of 16.950, is ranked third in the qualification rankings for hoop. This marks the first time Kerber has advanced to an event final at a World Cup, and it is the USA’s highest event qualification at a World Cup ever. For ball, she finished in 18th place (15.700). In the all-around rankings for two of four events, Kerber is 13th with a two-event total of 32.650.

Serena Lu of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, also competed today in the first round of qualifications and placed 20th for hoop (15.650) and 22nd for ball (15.500). Her all-around ranking after two events is 19th with 31.150.

Also in Lisbon, U.S. junior rhythmic gymnastics all-around champion Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, and Camilla Feeley of Lincolnshire, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, won the team bronze medal at the Lisbon International Tournament. The Lisbon International Tournament wraps up on Sunday with event finals, and the USA will be represented in all four events: Zeng – ball, hoop and ribbon; and Feeley – clubs.
