INDIANAPOLIS – Olga Karmansky of Brooklyn, N.Y., the all-around champion from the 2005 Visa Championships, headlines the four-woman U.S. Team that will represent the United States at the 2005 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, Oct. 3-9, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Joining Karmansky are Aline Bakchajian of Woodland Hills, Calif.; Brenann Stacker of Lincolnshire, Ill.; and Lisa Wang of Buffalo Grove, Ill. Karmansky automatically made the squad by winning the all-around title at the | VISA CHAMPIONSHIPS |, the sport’s national championship. The balance of the team was selected based on performances at both the 2005 Visa Championships and the selection camp held in Los Angeles.
At the 2005 Visa Championships, Karmansky, who competes for Nova Athletics, successfully defended her national title in ribbon and also won the gold medal in rope and ball in addition to her all-around title. She was second in the fourth event, clubs. Earlier this year she won the gold medal at the | 2005 RHYTHMIC CHALLENGE |.
Wang, who competes for Rhythmic Gems, claimed the title for clubs at the 2005 Visa Championships, as well as earned runner-up honors in the all-around, rope, ball and ribbon. Stacker and Bakchajian split the bronze medals. Stacker, who competes for Illinois Rhythmics, took third in rope, clubs and ribbon, while Bakchajian of Hollywood Academy, was third in ball and the all-around.
