LONG BEACH, Calif., May 10, 2014 – Four men claimed Level 10 Junior Elite all-around national titles today at 2014 U.S. Men’s Junior Olympic National Championships at the Long Beach (Calif.) Arena. Level 10 Junior Olympic competition is currently underway.

The junior elite champions determined today are listed below.

Junior Elite, 18 years old
Dmitri Belanovski of Milwaukee, Wis./Swiss Turners, 139.550, grabbed the all-around gold, followed by Yordan Aleksandrov of Santa Rosa, Calif. (Unaffiliated), 132.700, and Seth Delbridge of Floyds Knobs, Ind./Champion-Ky., 127.700. Nathan Tsuji of Aptos, Calif./Santa Cruz Sports won the title on the floor exercise. Belanovski added the pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar titles.

Junior Elite, 17 years old
U.S. senior national team member Marvin Kimble of Milwaukee, Wis./Swiss Turners, grabbed the top spot with a 145.750 total in the all-around. Yul Moldauer of Arvada, Colo./5280, 142.350, and Ryan Sheppard of Murphy, Texas/WOGA-Plano, 140.000, finished second and third, respectively. The individual event champions were as follows. Kiwan Watts of N. Chesterfield, Va./Above the Bar Academy, floor; Arinn Wade of Newark, N.J/Surgent’s Elite, pommel horse; Sheppard, still rings; Bobby Baker of Lemont, Ill./Aerial, vault; Kimble, parallel bars and high bar.

Junior Elite, 16 years old
Interactive’s Alec Yoder of Indianapolis posted a 141.200 combined score to win the all-around title. He also won the pommel horse and horizontal bar gold medals. David Jessen of East Greenwich, R.I./TAG-USA, 141.150, was second, and Grant Breckenridge of Libertyville, Ill./BGGC, 141.000, was third. The other individual event winners were: Levi Anderson of Spring, Texas/Cypress, floor; Alex Diab of Glen Ellyn, Ill./Premier, pommel horse; Jessen, vault; Breckenridge, parallel bars.

Junior Elite, 15 years old
Davis Grooms of Katy, Texas/Champions, earned a 135.100 total to take the all-around gold medal. Matthew Wenske of Houston/Cypress, 133.850, and Mario Lubian of Miami/Universal Gymnastics, 131.600, finished second and third, respectively. Wenkse also won the floor exercise title while Grooms also picked up the pommel horse title. Lubian was the still rings and high bar champion. Cypress’ Tanner Justus of Cypress, Texas, grabbed the gold medals on vault and parallel bars.

The U.S. Junior Olympic National Championships is one of the national championships of USA Gymnastics, the sport’s national governing body in the United States. Many Junior Olympic champions have gone on to make the U.S. National Team and represent the United States in international competition and/or to compete in collegiate gymnastics. All of the members of the men’s medal-winning 2004 (silver) and 2008 (bronze) U.S. Olympic Teams, as well as the 2012 Olympic Team, are former Junior Olympic National Championships participants. Past participants include Paul Hamm, 2004 Olympic all-around champion; Jonathan Horton, 2008 Olympic horizontal bar silver medalist and 2010 World all-around bronze medalist; and Danell Leyva, 2012 Olympic all-around bronze medalist.
