Audrey Johnson (Greenville, S.C.) won the first World Cup parkour gold medal by an American and added a bronze for good measure at the 2024 Coimbra World Cup in Portugal over the weekend.
A World Cup silver medalist last year in Montpellier, Johnson scored a 27.90 in the women’s freestyle final in Coimbra on Sunday to claim the country’s first World Cup gold. She took the honor ahead of Adela Merkova of the Czech Republic in second (27.80) and Ella Bucio of Mexico in third (25.60).
Johnson also secured the second speed bronze medal of her career with a time of 45.02 seconds. Argentina’s Sara Banchoff Tzancoof was first with a time of 43.06 seconds followed by Noa Man of the Netherlands in second with a time of 43.59 seconds.
Brittney Durant (Walnut Creek, Calif.) also saw final competition, landing seventh in the women’s freestyle final with a 23.10. In the men’s freestyle final, George Munro (Gilbert, Ariz.) was fifth with a 25.40 and Shea Rudolph (Boston, Mass.) eighth with a 21.80.
Dara De Paolo (Woodstock, Ga.), Matthew Hadley (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Jayden Harris (Boulder, Colo.) and Aiden Rudolph (Boston, Mass.) also competed for the U.S. in qualifications.
