KITAKYUSHU, Japan (November 16, 2024) – Audrey Johnson (Greenville, S.C.) claimed a silver medal Saturday in Japan, becoming the first American athlete to medal at a Parkour World Championships.

Johnson secured her historic finish in the women’s speed final, where she placed second with a time of 38.62. Mexico’s Ella Bucio was first (38.26) and Sweden’s Miranda Tibbling third (39.55). Kitakyushu marks the third historic parkour performance for Johnson since 2023: she earned one of the country’s first World Cup medals in 2023 and in September of this year became the first American to win World Cup gold.

Also seeing final competition was Shea Rudolph (Boston, Mass.), who placed sixth in men’s freestyle with a score of 27.70. Elis Torhall of Sweden was first with a 32.70, followed by Japan’s Mutsuhiro Shiohata in second (30.90) and Tangui van Schingen of The Netherlands in third (29.60).

In qualifications, Brittney Durant (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Dara De Paolo (Woodstock, Ga.), landed 11th and 18th, respectively, with the former being first reserve to the women’s speed semifinal. On the men’s side, George Munro (Mexico City, Mexico), Aiden Rudolph (Boston, Mass.) and Matthew Hadley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placed, 12th, 19th, and 22nd, respectively, in men’s freestyle.

Competition continues Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET, with women’s freestyle and men’s speed competition. Final rounds will conclude the championships on Sunday starting at 1:45 a.m. ET. Fans can find results and follow along through the competition website.
