BURBANK, Calif., July 23, 2010 — 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin started a five-city tour to mark the launch of her new collection, Supergirl by Nastia, on July 24 in New York City. The fun, affordable lifestyle collection, Supergirl by Nastia, is available exclusively at JCPenney stores nationwide. She will be in Frisco, Texas, at the JCPenney store in the Stonebriar Mall on July 31.

The Supergirl by Nastia collection features trend-right, affordable apparel that encourages a message of empowerment, creativity, strength, intelligence and independence—the symbolic attributes and S-Shield of Supergirl, the iconic DC Comics super heroine. The collection was created for today’s 4-12-year-old girls.

In addition to New York City, Liukin will also travel to Dallas, Texas; Chicago, Ill.; Glendale, Calif.; and Orlando, Fla. Kids from JCPenney’s Afterschool Fund and other local community groups will also join Liukin at each stop and have the opportunity for prizes, including a shopping spree for back-to-school clothes, courtesy of JCPenney.

The New York event featured live gymnastic exhibitions, dance performances, fashion presentations and even onsite stretching and tumbling classes for young girls. Liukin will offer styling tips and host a meet-and-greet for attendees and prizes will be awarded to lucky winners throughout the event.

“I am so excited to be partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and JCPenney for this national tour in support of the Supergirl by Nastia line. It will be great to interact with so many young girls and communicate the important message of empowerment,” said Liukin. “The collection is inspired by the iconic Supergirl S-Shield and I know that girls everywhere will love and embrace its spirit.”

The line will retail from $20 – $38 and include active fleece, dresses and tunics, knit pants, signature Supergirl tees, dancewear, fashion leggings, shrug tops and more.
