GAINESVILLE, Fla., April 22, 2010 – Louisiana State University’s Susan Jackson won the all-around title at the 2010 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville. Six teams have advanced to the Super Six, the team finals scheduled for April 23 at 6 p.m.: Stanford University, University of Alabama, University of California-Los Angeles, University of Florida, University of Oklahoma and University of Utah. In the all-around competition, Susan Jackson won Louisiana State University’s first NCAA all-around title when she earned the day’s highest total mark of 39.625. Casey Jo Magee of the University of Arkansas was second in the all-around at 39.550. Stanford’s Carly Janiga was third at 39.525.

The top three teams from each of the two sessions advanced to the Super Six.

Alabama lead the second semifinal session with a team score of 196.850, posting the top team uneven bars and balance beam marks. The Florida Gators earned a 196.775, to grab the second spot with the top scores on vault and floor exercise. The Cardinal of Stanford finished with a score of 196.300 to secure the third spot. Three schools advanced from the first semifinal.

In the morning session, number-one overall seed UCLA scored a 196.875 with strong team vault and floor performances to finish in the top spot of first semifinal. The Utes of Utah, a five-seed entering nationals, took the second spot with a 196.625, earning at least a 49.100 on every apparatus. The fourth-seeded Oklahoma Sooners garnered the last qualifying spot with a team score of 196.550. Three more teams will advance to finals after the second semifinal.

The NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships began with a 12-team field and 19 individual athletes that advanced from six NCAA Regional Championships. The top three teams from each semifinal advanced to the Super Six team finals on Friday, April 23, at 6 p.m., which will air tape-delayed on CBS on Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m. ET. The top four individuals from each session in each event (plus ties) from Thursday’s sessions will compete in the individual-event competition Saturday, April 24, at 6 p.m.
