INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 24, 2013 – Japan’s Hiroki Ishikawa and Koko Tsurumi, and Canada’s Victoria Moors join 2012 Olympic medalists Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max, Danell Leyva of Miami/Team Hilton HHonors (Universal Gymnastics), and Marcel Nguyen of Germany at the 2013 American Cup, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET on March 2 at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.

The USA’s Elizabeth Price of Coopersburg, Pa./Parkettes, has withdrawn from the competition due to a strained hip muscle, and the second U.S. woman will be named following a training camp in February. Romania’s Larissa Iordache has also withdrawn from the competition. Her replacement will be named in the near future.

The American Cup, a part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup series, kicks off the road to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the field features many of the top athletes from last summer’s Olympic Games in London.

Tsurumi finished seventh in the uneven bars final at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and is the 2009 World all-around bronze medalist. Moors was a member of the Canadian Olympic team in London that finished fifth, making history as Canada’s first team to advance to the team final. Ishikawa, who finished 10th at the 2012 Japanese national championships, competed at the 2011 Maribor World Cup, finishing seventh and eighth on the parallel bars and still rings, respectively.

Ross returns to international competition for the first time since contributing solid uneven bars and balance beam routines to The Fierce FiveAca
