ATHENS, Ga., April 27, 2008 – Tasha Schwikert, a senior at the University of California – Los Angeles who was a member of the 2003 world champion team, added an individual event title to her all-around crown by winning the uneven bars at the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships, held at Georgia’s Stegeman Coliseum. 2004 Olympic team silver-medalist Courtney McCool, a sophomore at the University of Georgia, won the floor exercise.

Schwikert scored a 9.9375 to place first, followed by Georgia’s Katie Heenan and UCLA’s Kristina Comforte, who tied for second with scores of 9.9000. On floor exercise, McCool’s 9.9625 edged Schwikert’s 9.9500 and the 9.9125 of the University of Florida’s Nicola Willis.

Louisiana State University’s Susan Jackson posted a 9.8563 to win vault, just ahead of the University of Utah’s Kristina Baskett and Auburn University’s Julie Dwyer, who both posted scores of 9.8438 to tie for second.

Georgia’s Grace Taylor earned the balance beam crown with a score of 9.9500. Tying for second with scores of 9.9000 were Utah’s Ashley Postell and the University of Nebraska’s Emily Parsons. Postell was the 2002 balance beam world champion.
