George Wheeler

From 1937-1941, George Wheeler controlled the national stage, winning an unprecedented 25 National AAU Titles in the all-around, floor exercise, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bars. He never did worse than gold at AAU Nationals during his five-year run.

A 1936 Olympic Team member, Wheeler finished his career in 1942 to serve four years in the military. The National Collegiate Gymnastics Alumni Association selected Wheeler and nine other gymnasts as Honorary Olympians for the canceled 1944 Olympic Games.

Wheeler was also an A.B. Frederick Centurion for his vital contribution to the sport.
