Barry Weiner

After a successful career as an athlete, Weiner became one of the most respected coaches in the gymnastics community. Before coaching, he put up gold medal performances at the 1968 Maccabiah Games and competed at Temple University, where he was named MVP of the team in both 1968 and 1969. Weiner is most well-known for transforming the University of California’s men’s gymnastics program into an NCAA-winning team, leading them to back-to-back collegiate championships in 1997 and ’98, for the first time since 1975. As an elite coach, he was selected as the assistant coach for the 2000 U.S. Olympic men’s team in Sydney, Australia. He collected a multitude of accolades as a coach, including being a five-time NACGC and MPSF Coach Of The Year each, 2010 USAG men’s artistic Coach Of The Year, and was inducted into the University of California Hall of Fame in 2023.
