Joyce Tanac-Schroeder

Although she never medaled in an Olympics, Joyce Tanac’s success nationally boosted her to Hall of Fame status. She swept the medals at the 1969 AAU National Championships, an accomplishment she had achieved three years prior at the National YMCA Championships.

Her unique dismount from the uneven bars – called the Whipsalto-Tanac – is credited in the Code of Points. The USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame and University of Washington Athletic Hall of Fame inductee began a career as a pharmacist after completing her competitive career.
