Art Shurlock

University of California-Berkeley graduate Art Shurlock stayed in the Golden State, where he assembled a Hall of Fame career coaching at UCLA. There, Shurlock’s teams amassed two NCAA team titles, nine Pac-10 Conference Championships, and an overall record of 316-122 – a .721 win percentage.

The former pommel horse and all-around standout coached many teams internationally, including Belgium, Denmark, and Mexico. Shurlock coached the U.S. in the 1984 Olympics as well as the World University Games Teams in 1987 and 1993. Shurlock was twice named NCAA Coach of the Year in 1984 and 1987, USGF Coach of the Year in 1991, Pac-10 Coach of the Year every year from 1981 through 1989, and served as the NACGC President from 1992-1993.
