Ed Scrobe

Ed Scrobe was a nine-time AAU National Champion and was the top American scorer at the 1948 and 1952 Olympic Games. A former Turner under Bernhard Unzer at the Turn Verein in the Bronx, Scrobe earned national titles in five of six men’s events, only failing to medal on the rings. He was a National Collegiate Gymnastics Alumni Association selection for the 1944 Olympic Honorary Team. Scrobe and nine other men were honorary selections because of the cancellation of the Olympics due to World War II.
