Karl Schier

Karl Schier was a standout captain at Penn State, where he won the NCAA and National AAU all-around titles in 1955, which he followed with his only trip to the Olympics the following year. After his competitive career, Schier coached at his alma mater for 15 years, 14, during which they were nationally ranked in the top ten.

Schier served as President of the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) and also founded and chaired the NCAA All-American Selection Committee. As an administrator, Schier served as Secretary of the Olympic Gymnastics Committee and Secretary/Editor of the NCAA Gymnastics Rules Committee.
