Mildred Prchal

Mildred Prchal was a teacher, administrator, and author who revolutionized rhythmic gymnastics in the U.S.

National Director for Women with the American Sokol Organization for 13 years and an advocate for the development of rhythmic gymnastics, Prchal organized the first rhythmic national championships in 1973. She served as editor of The American Sokol Magazine and published books and articles on artistic and rhythmic gymnastics during her career. Prchal, an American Sokol representative for more than 50 years, also served as the Chairperson of the U.S. Gymnastics Federation Rhythmic Committee.
