Dale McClements-Kephart contributed to gymnastics in almost every way possible— competitor, coach, judge, administrator, instructor, and writer.
The NCAA and National AAU Champion began coaching in the western U.S., eventually taking the job at the University of Nevada-Reno, followed by the University of California-Berkeley. She worked with two U.S. Olympic teams, once as head coach at the 1976 Montreal Games. McClements-Kephart also headed the 1975 Pan American Games Team.
She earned international Brevet status as a judge during her 23-year judging tenure that included the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. An advocate and administrator for the Junior Olympic program, McClements-Kephart was the first recipient of the Spirit of the Flame Award from the Athlete’s Council of USA Gymnastics for competition, coaching, judging, and service.
McClements-Kephart wrote articles for International Gymnastics Magazine and is an inductee to USA Gymnastics and the University of Washington Halls of Fame.
