Melissa "Missy" Marlowe

A 1988 Olympian, Marlowe’s gymnastics career is full of highlights as an elite and collegiate athlete. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea, she was a part of the women’s team who placed fourth in team competition. Marlowe previously was a 1987 World Championships team member and was a part of the 1987 Pan American Games team that won gold in Indianapolis, claiming bars gold at the competition. In domestic competition, she was the 1987 U.S. bars champion, all-around silver medalist, and beam bronze medalist. Collegiately, Marlowe was the first gymnast to score at least one 10.0 in every event. In 1992 she nearly swept that year’s NCAA National Championships, winning gold in the team competition, all-around, and on bars, beam and floor at the University of Utah. She also won the NCAA beam title in 1991 and helped her team win their 1990 championship. Marlowe was inducted into the Utah’s Crimson Club Hall of Fame in 2001 and is a part of the Utah Sports Hall of Fame. She received the USA Gymnastics Athlete of the Year award in 1987 and the Honda-Broderick Cup and NCAA Top 6 Award in 1992.
