Connie Lenz got her start with the Germania Turnverein in Baltimore at 14, and by 18, she was representing her country at the Berlin Olympics. The 1936 Olympics was her first of three. Lenz excelled in AAU competition, winning eight titles in five tries. A multi-sport athlete and one-time national record holder for the 50-yard dash at 6.3 seconds, Lenz focused her adult years on gymnastics. Following retirement from competition, Lenz served nine years on the U.S. Women’s Olympic Committee.
