Little is known of Frank Kanis. Information on the 11-time National AAU champion, however, is plenty to enshrine him as one of the nation’s best gymnasts. Despite only being on record as a New York Metropolitan and National AAU champion, Kanis’ success as an athlete earned him the head coach position for the 1932 Olympic Team. Though results are believed to be lost, it is also thought that a great deal of Kanis’ success also came competing for the Newark, NJ, Turnverein.
