Lester Griffin

Lester Griffin spent the majority of his career coaching in Texas, and in 44 years, the Lone Star State native produced plenty of stars of his own. Griffin earned the spot of head coach of the 1963 women’s Pan American team. In Sao Paulo, Brazil, his team took gold, as did three of his athletes who made a clean sweep of the gold medals that year. Griffin specialized in tumbling, and during his long and successful career, he coached dozens of Texas natives— men and women— to national tumbling championships. He was the 1977 recipient of the Honor Coach Certificate from the National Association of Collegiate Coaches.
