Mitch Gaylord

While 1984 was Mitch Gaylord’s strongest year as a competitor, his accomplishments as an advocate for the sport of gymnastics have helped carry his legacy beyond the finite amount of time he was able to compete. A member of President Regan’s President’s Council for Physical Fitness and the developer of the “Gaylord Flip,” Gaylord enjoyed success from his collegiate days at UCLA to Olympic gold and US National Championships. After winning four Olympic medals, Gaylord went on to work as a journalist and public speaker advocating a healthy lifestyle.
