Jim Gault

With no athletic background, Jim Gault, the former physical education teacher, chose to try his hand at coaching gymnastics. Fruitful were his efforts, however. Following a stint of intermediate-level coaching that included high school and club coaching, Gault took over the women’s program at the University of Arizona. At Arizona, he compiled a 344-153-1 record and led the Wildcats to eight NCAA Championship meets. For his successes, Gault was awarded the head coach position of the US National Team, where his teams competed in England, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, the Soviet Union, Hungary, Germany, Yugoslavia, and Israel.
